Welcoming Dan Chen as Gemini's CFO

We’re excited to announce that Dan Chen has joined as our Chief Financial Officer. He will oversee all aspects of Gemini’s financial performance, including financial planning and analysis, treasury and capital markets, and upholding Gemini’s stringent financial reporting standards.

Dan has built a distinguished career in traditional finance, capital markets, investment management, and fintech. Most recently, Dan led capital markets and bank partnerships at Affirm. Other prior roles included serving as the CFO of venture-backed fintech Nearside, as the CFO of Blue Foundry Bank, and as the Treasurer of Cross River Bank. He’s also spent time as a Managing Director at MetLife and a Vice President at Morgan Stanley in roles across capital markets and mergers & acquisitions. Dan is a graduate of the Wharton School and earned an MBA from Columbia Business School.

Dan has shaped finance departments at both private and public companies across regulated financial institutions and high-growth technology companies. He has spent the past two-plus years at Affirm, where he served as the vice president of the $15 billion fintech company’s capital markets and bank partnerships teams, growing access to secured funding over 100% to $20 billion-plus. While CFO at Blue Foundry Bank, Dan helped lead the company through an IPO in 2021 that raised more than $277 million.

The hire comes in a period of rapid growth for Gemini. The company has added support for more than 14 new tokens since November 1 across both spot and perpetual markets, introduced index-based perpetual contracts on the Gemini Derivatives Platform, and launched Gemini Gifting to help customers send crypto to friends and family– all while expanding its reach across the globe. The Gemini Credit Card has also continued to increase in popularity by allowing customers to stack crypto rewards.
